Accompanying the doctor's prescription should be a letter of justification written by a professional (speech therapist, physical therapist, or occupational therapist). The professional should be well acquainted with the client, very knowledgeable in the field of electronic communication devices and able to address all relevant issues. A letter of justification for an AAC device must be written by a speech pathologist. This letter may be done as part of a complete professional evaluation, or it may be a separate letter written by the professional. Statements from additional professionals (OT, PT, teacher, etc.) may be included in the documentation package.
