Temp-A-Sure Review: Breathe Pure’s Digital Thermometer Temperature Reader?

Temp-A-Sure

Temp-A-Sure is a touchless digital thermometer available online for $60.

The thermometer uses infrared to accurately read body temperature without requiring any physical contact. Like other infrared thermometers, Temp-A-Sure works on both humans and inanimate surfaces.

Is Temp-A-Sure worth the high price tag? Let’s take a closer look at how Temp-A-Sure works.

What is Temp-A-Sure?

Temp-A-Sure is an infrared thermometer marketed online and through an “As Seen On TV” offer. Made by Breathe Pure (a Tristar Products brand), Temp-A-Sure accurately reads the temperature of any human or surface.

Temp-A-Sure uses infrared light to detect the temperature of any object you’re pointing at.

After reading the temperature, Temp-A-Sure shows a green, orange, or red light indicating normal, low fever, or high fever. You also get an accurate temperature reading in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

Some people use Temp-A-Sure to check forehead temperature. You can use it on yourself or a child, for example. Others use it to check room temperature, fridge or freezer temperature, food temperature, and more.

How Does Temp-A-Sure Work?

Temp-A-Sure works like any other infrared thermometer: you point the thermometer at an object, then click the button.

When you click the button, the device sends invisible infrared light to the object. Temp-A-Sure uses a lens to focus infrared light from the object onto a detector called a thermopile (which is inside the gun). The thermopile absorbs the infrared radiation, then turns it into heat.

The more infrared energy there is (from the object or surface), the hotter the thermopile gets. The heat from the thermopile is turned into electricity, then sent to a detector. The detector reads the level of electricity. The more electricity there is, the hotter the object is. The temperature reading gets sent to the display, and you see the temperature of the object.

Temp-A-Sure supports readings in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. The device checks temperature within one second.

Temp-A-Sure doesn’t disclose its error range. However, a typical infrared thermometer has an error range of 0.1 to 0.3 degrees Celsius for human temperatures and an error range of 0.5 to 1.0 degree for inanimate surfaces. Certain factors, including humidity and ambient temperature, can affect the error range.

Temp-A-Sure Technical Specifications

Tristar provides limited information about the technical specifications of its Temp-A-Sure infrared thermometer.

Typically, infrared thermometers disclose information about their error range, wavelength, size, weight, measurement range, and other factors.

Overall, there’s limited information online about how Temp-A-Sure works or operates.

Here Are A Few Frequently Asked Product Questions and The Answers to Them

Q. How do I know if my infrared thermometer reading is accurate?

A. To test the accuracy of an infrared thermometer needs an access to a stable surface of a known temperature. You cannot verify the accuracy of an IR thermometer by comparing it to an immersion type thermometer that is beneath the surface of a liquid or semi-solid in a non-controlled experiment.

Q. How do I check my temperature with an infrared thermometer?

A.  Aim the infrared towards the body or object and the temperature reading will be displayed on your screen within a few seconds.

Q. What temperature is considered as a fever?

Q. Are infrared thermometers dangerous?

A. Infrared radiation is a part of the electromagnetic wave spectrum. Radiations are often harmful to human beings as they can cause irritation and a burning sensation in the skin. However, the best-infrared thermometer contains almost no radiation.

Q.  Can I use a non-contact infrared thermometer to check for fever due to COVID-19?

A. Measuring temperatures can only help when an infected person is showing symptoms.
